Mary "Polly" 1796 - 1862

Mary Ellen [LNU]1 was born on 12 August 1796, in Pennsylvania, United States to [FNU] [LNU]2 and [FNU] [LNU]2. Mary became known as “Polly”.

Polly Unknown, aged about 24, married David Hess3, aged about 23, about 1820 in Pennsylvania.

Polly Hess for the United States Census in 1850 and 1860 is recorded residing in Washington Township, Ripley, Indiana, United States. She was listed as not being able to read or write.

Polly died on 25 November 1862, aged 66, in Ripley, Indiana, United States. She was buried in Green Cemetery in Ripley, Indiana, United States. UPDATE May 2018 to switch birth year from 1793 to 1796, changed wedding date from 1815 to 1820, to correct 1860 Census to being the 1850 US Census and to properly add the 1860 US Census, added number of children (per an obit for one of their children), and to remove "Ellen" as a middle name.

David Hess 1797 - 1866

David Hess, aged about 23, married Mary [LNU]3, aged about 24, about 1820 in Pennsylvania.

For the United States Census in 1860, aged 63, David is listed in Washington Township, Ripley, Indiana. On the latter census report his birth year is estimated to being 1781, not 1797.

David died on 26 October 1866, aged 69, in Ripley, Indiana. He was buried, possibly in Green Cemetery, in Ripley, Indiana.
