Mearl Wyne and Paul Oscar Walter Kreuzer

Mearl Joy Wyne first appears in the 1920 US Census report for John C. Wyne and Eliza C. Wampler. I derived her middle name and the following information through death and birth records found on FamilySearch.org, along with their memorial pages found on FindAGrave.com, for her and her family.

She was born Jan 29 1903 in Lexington, Texas and passed away, November 23 1995. Mearl Joy Wyne Kreuzer is buried in Manvel, Brazoria County, Texas. Mearl married Paul Oscar Walter Kreuzer, son of Richard Fredrich and Anna Tiele Schumacher. He was born Aug 2 1902 in South Dakota and passed away June 19 1975. Paule Oscar Walter Kreuzer is buried in Manvel, Brazoria County, Texas.

Paul Oscar Walter Kreuzer and Mearl Joy Wyne Kreuzer had three children according to my research:

Paul Oscar Walter Kreuzer in 1925, married Edith Louise Lilley (?-1960) and had three children. Edith Louise Lilley Kreuzer is buried in Manvel, Brazoria County, Texas. Paul Oscar Walter Kreuzer Jr. married two or more more times but no children from those later unions. At this point all three children from Paul Oscar Walter Kreuzer and Edith Lilley Kreuzer are not deceased.

Eleanor Ruth Kreuzer was born May 30 1926 and passed away March 18 1991. Eleanor Ruth Kreuzer Bullard is buried in Manvel, Brazoria County, Texas. Ruth married Johnny Lee Bullard on February 25 1946. He was born January 1923 and passed away in 1998. He is buried in Manvel, Brazoria County, Texas. Eleanor Ruth Kreuzer Bullard and Johnny Lee Bullard had two children according to my research:

In a prior posting I shared updated information in relation to Eliza C. Wampler and J(ohn) C. Wine/Wyne. So,thanks to records located on FamilySearch.org, we have their marriage date, at least 3 US Census reports, and the couple's death dates/certificates information. Also that the couple, between 1910 and 1920, adopted three girls.

George Samuel Wampler married Frances Gettinger Wampler in Indiana and had at least one child: Phillip Ward Wampler (1909-1958). He married Cleo Leanna Cline in Ohio. According to The Ziegler Family Record G. Samuel Wampler graduated May 1903 from the Dental Collegiate University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Rebecca S. Wampler married James Frank Holsinger in Virginia. Their son, mentioned above within the database information, is Earl Chester Holsinger who married Lorraine Alshire. They had a son in 1927 named James Reuben Holsinger.

J. William Wampler married Violette (Violetta) Ikenberry (Eikenberry).

John C. Wampler married Mary E. Minnick (Minnich) in Virginia. They had four children before they moved to Platt County, Illinois in 1894. Those children were Edgar A., Arthur S., Emma S., and Lewis P. Wampler. So, according to the information shared on the Wampler/Wampfler database, they had eight more children after leaving Virginia.

I've come across some family trees sharing a Mary Wampler as a child of Joseph Wampler and Lydia Zigler Wampler. Mary Wampler is not mentioned at all in The Ziegler Family Record - which has mentioned or listed other children that died young or as an infant.

Eliza C. Wampler and John C. Wyne

Here I go using an obituary notice as a jumping off point. A line in Lydia Zigler Wampler's obituary caught my eye and that is of her and Joseph Wampler's daughter, Eliza C. Wampler ... listed as Mrs. Eliza C. Wampler.

MRS. JOSEPH WAMPLER DIES

Aged Widow Stricken With Heart Failure at Home Near Timberville.

Mrs. Lydia Wampler, widow of Joseph Wampler, died suddenly yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law, Frank B. Holsinger, near Timberville. Death resulted from heart failure.

Mrs. Wampler was a daughter of the late John Zigler. She was one of a family of thirteen children. Her birth date was April 26, 1831, her age, therefore being eighty-five years, eight months and five days. Mrs. Wampler had long been a member of the Church of the Brethren, and was a woman of high Christian character. Mr. Wampler died April 9, 1890.

Surviving Mrs. Wampler are five children. Mrs. Frank B. Holsinger, of near Timberville; Mrs. Eliza Wampler, of Missouri City, Texas; John C., J. William and Samuel, all of whom live in the West. She also leave one brother, Daniel Zigler; of Timbervllle.

The funeral, party will leave the home of Mr. Holsinger at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning. Services will take place at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren at 11 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. J. Carson Miller. Interment will be in the Linville Creek Cemetery.

Thinking this was yet another distant cousin who, in the past, married a cousin with the same surname. I was curious about which cousin. After all, by this time, a few Wampler descendants had taken up residence in Texas by this point in time. However, although Eliza did marry a cousin, this was apparently misinformation shared in Lydia Zigler Wampler's obit as Eliza C. Wampler's married name, at the time of her mother's passing, was not Wampler.

Eliza C. Wampler married John C. Wyne, son of John Wyne and Elizabeth Zigler, on December 24 1889. Elizabeth Zigler Wyne was Lydia Zigler Wampler's sister. The Wampler/Wampfler Database site and a publication, ("The Ziegler Family Record: A Complete Record of the Ziegler Family from Our Ancestor, Philip Ziegler, Born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1734, Down to the Seventh and Eighth Generations; Including Also Those who are Directly Descended from the Family as Far as Data Could be Obtained" by Jesse Ziegler, Daniel P. Ziegler in 1906), the Wyne surname was spelt as Wine ... therefore by many other family trees shared online.

[hp5-138]   Eliza C, WAMPLER

I am using the spelling used 1910 and after as shared on John C. Wyne and Eliza C. Wampler's US census reports and their Texas death certificates.

According to John C. Wyne's Texas death certificate he was born November 19 1865 in Virginia to John Wyne and Elizabeth Zigler. He passed away in Houston, Harris County, Texas on January 19 1941. Burial in South Park Cemetery. Information provided by Mrs. Winnie Lee Collins.

According to Eliza C. Wampler Wyne's Texas death certificate she was born February 18 1862 in Virginia to John Wampler and Lydia Zigler. She passed away in Houston, Harris County, Texas on January 6 1944. Burial in South Park Cemetery. Information provided by Mrs. W. E. Lemmon.

According to Eliza C. Wampler and John C. Wyne's 1910 US Census, only they and a servant lived in the household. Things changed by the time of the 1920 US Census as the servant is not listed in the household but three children, stated as adopted daughters: Winnie Lee Wyne(24), Cora Wyne,(16) and Mearle Wyne (14). In the 1930 US Census only Winnie Lee is listed out of the three girls as still residing within the household of John C. Wyne and Eliza C. Wampler Wyne. These are the only US Census reports I have come across, so far, for this couple.
